Seth’s definition of Great Marketing

Filed under: Marketing — thatsoftwareguy @ 9:29 am

Seth Godin says,

Make big promises; overdeliver.

If you can define great marketing in fewer words than that, you win.

My response: “Underpromise, overdeliver.” I win!! :)

  1. overpromise, overdeliver…would be closer in meaning to Seth Godin’s definition.

If you underpromise then you probably won’t get the opportunity to overdeliver. :)

  2. I have to agree with Jack here… One of the points Seth made was, and I quote, “And sometimes, they make promises that are too small to get our attention. Boring promises are hardly worth making”
Underpromising is pretty pointless and your would-be clients will find someone who’s promises are more exciting than yours..
