Amazon does split testing on prices, but when you add an item to your basket, you get the lowest price. I'm sure the added software development and testing expense is more than met by customer goodwill gained (or ill-will avoided).

Last Christmas, the first price bracket at Neiman's for search by price was $0-$30,000. Seems like a reasonable range. :)
It seems now they've dumped search by price and started using IBM's OmniFind offering, which is branded iphrase powered.
